PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 SCHOOL DAZE

With all the codes there are today
For children in our schools,
You’d think that they could get it right.
Instead, it seems schools are a fright
With students breaking all the rules.

Who’s in charge?  Who leads the way?
Teachers do their best,
But some kids think they run the show.
You can’t tell them where to go,
Or teach them how to take a test.

Who is it that is going to pay,
With dropout rates so high?
It had to start when we were kids.
We need to open up our lids,
And teach our children to ask why.

It has to start where children stay –
At home, but not alone.
There is no way while mothers work,
And dads who act just like jerks,
To set a household tone

For proper rules that cast away
All doubt of whose in charge.
Until the child has met his match,
Remove the key from the latch,
Don’t leave the kids at large.
